Independent Prescribing Urgent

Practitioners with an Independent prescribing qualification are able to manage certain conditions in primary care following a referral from a WGOS practitioner or discharge from hospital eye services.

Independent Prescribing Glaucoma Management

'Practitioners with an Independent prescribing qualification and a Higher Certificate in Glaucoma or a Diploma in Glaucoma will be able to manage suitable patients in primary care.  This will usually follow a referral from a secondary care.' This pathway is in development and will be released in due course. 

It is important to note that WGOS 5 pathways may vary according to local health board and you should contact your local health board for further information.
