The second Workforce Race Equality Standard report for NHS Wales was published in September 2025. The report tells an important story about what our staff experience in healthcare. It shows that race and gender discrimination are still common—not only in workplace policies, but also in how people behave day to day.
However, it also shows that some organisations have improved their recruitment and disciplinary processes, making workplaces fairer and more inclusive. We must keep moving forward, inspired by these improvements and guided by the opportunities shown in the data.
